R&B Group LEVERT II Set to Release Debut CD Dedication December 6th
(Chicago, IL/Miami, FL – December 3, 2011) – Chicago-based imprints KES Record Group and KES Music & Distribution have inked a joint venture deal with 9311 Entertainment Group. Their first project will be the release of Dedication, the debut CD from new R&B group LEVERT II available now on iTunes and in stores on December 6, 2011.
Dedication will be distributed nationally by KES Music & Video Distribution and marketed by National Marketing Advertising and Promotion Service, a division of KES Networks.
Dedication is a posthumous release and tribute to the legacies of both Gerald & Sean Levert. In 2007, Sean Levert reunited with LeVert co-founder Marc Gordon and formed LEVERT II. They eagerly began recording with new group member Blaq Rose but before the project’s completion, Sean passed away in 2008. With heavy hearts Gordon and Blaq Rose picked up the pieces and saw the project to completion.
Gordon states, “As CEO of 9311 Entertainment Group, the label home of LEVERT II, I’m very excited for the opportunity to partner with Karvin Johnson and the KES family. I’m grateful for his Team’s belief in us and commitment to helping bring this project to light. Sean was very proud of this music.”
Founded in the early 1980’s, LeVert was originally comprised of Gerald and Sean Levert, the sons of O’Jays founder Eddie Levert, and lifelong friend Marc Gordon. The popular trio dominated the R&B scene and Billboard charts with popular hits such as “(Pop, Pop, Pop) Goes My Mind,” “Casanova,” “Baby I’m Ready,” and “Just Coolin’ ” featuring Heavy D. The original members of LeVert pursued a reunion in mid-2000, but those dreams ended with the death of Gerald in 2006.
Original members of the group LeVert, Marc Gordon & Sean Levert regroup to form “LEVERT II” after the passing of brother Gerald Levert by recording a CD with new member Blaq Rose dedicated to Gerald entitled “Dedication.” While finalizing the recording, Sean passed suddenly leaving Marc and Blaq to continue promoting the legacies of Gerald both and Sean as LEVERT II. “Dedication” also features Hall of Fame legends, The O’Jays on a song entitled “What a Woman.” Listen to snippets of “Dedication” in this video.
